7AA Baseball sees Upsets

The section 7AA boys baseball tournament will see alot of new teams in this years section 7AA double elimination tournament as upsets were the word of the day Tuesday in section play.

MLWR and International Falls two number three seeds both lost in the opening round being eliminated from the tournament, it was Two Harbors beating the Rebels 10-1 to move into the double elimination portion of the tournament.

It was Eveleth-Gilbert beating the section runner up from a year ago, as the Golden Bears knocked off the Broncos 4-3. and then the Golden Bears beat Greenway in another upset and now they will face Cloquet in a contest of two unbeaten teams.

In the biggest upset of all it was the defending section champion Hermantown Hawks falling to Duluth Marshall in the opening round and being knocked out of the tournament. Marshall continued on the upset train as they then defeated Virginia.

The Hilltoppers face Aitkin in the other game between the four unbeaten teams remaining. Losers bracket games today include Two Harbors meeting Virginia and Esko takes on Greenway.

The section 7AA tournament will be down to four teams after play today.
