Barnum wins Two in Section 7A

The Barnum Bombers won two games Tuesday as the Bombers advance in the section 7A Baseball tournament. In a day where several top teams were upset the Bombers downed McGregor 4-3 in the opening round match-up which moved them into the double elimination tournament. The Bombers then faced Cook County a number five seed and the Bombers came away with a 9-0 win to advance as one of the four unbeaten teams left in the section 7A tournament.

The Bombers will face Little Fork-Big Falls a number seven seed who advanced to this stage with a opening round 8-4 victory over the number two seed Mesabi East Giants and knocking them out of tournament play. The Vikings then defeated the number three seeded Nashwauk Keewatin Spartans with a 4-1 victory.

Ely the second number one seed will face Silver Bay in the other unbeaten team match up on Thursday afternoon, Ely beat both Northwoods and Chisholm to advance, while Silver Bay knocked off defending section 7A champion Floodwood in the opening round and then upset South Ridge to start the double elimination tournament.

Losers bracket action being played tomorrow includes South Ridge taking on Chisholm in Proctor at 2:00 pm and it will be Nashwauk Keewatin meeting Cook County in Hibbing also at 2:00 pm. Section 7A play will see four of the eight teams still alive be eliminated on Thursday setting up the final four teams which will meet again next Tuesday in Hibbing.
