Baseball Playoffs Are Here!

The Section 7A and 7AA playoffs are finally here. Play-in games began on Saturday, May 24th when McGregor and Wrenshall, Northeast Range and Littlefork, and North Woods and Mountain Iron-Buhl squared off for 7A and Pine City and Crosby-Ironton played for 7AA. McGregor, Littlefork, North Woods, and Pine City were all victorious to finalize the match-ups for the next round.

In Section 7A, Barnum and Ely took the two one seeds. Barnum will play McGregor at 2 PM in either Cloquet or Proctor. Ely, who will be without one of their stars from a freak accident, will match-up with North Woods in Nashwauk or Greenway at 2 PM.

Also in action for Section 7A is the No. 2 seeded Floodwood Polar Bears who are playing No. 7 seeded Silver Bay Mariners in Hermantown at 2 PM. Following that game, it will be the 3 seed South Ridge Panthers playing the 6th seeded Bulldogs from Carlton with a 4:30 PM start. The winners of those two games will play in Hermantown at 7 PM. 5th seeded Cook County will play Hill City in Cloquet or Proctor at 4:30, with the winner playing Barnum/McGregor at 7 PM. Cherry drew a 6 seed in the North sub-section and they will play the 3 seeded Nashwauk-Keewatin Spartans.

In 7AA action, the top seeded Cloquet Lumberjacks will play the 8 seed Pine City Dragons in Proctor at 2 PM. The other number one seed, the Hermantown Hawks will play in Nashwauk against the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers, also at 2 PM. Esko drew the 4th seed at will play Mora at 4:30 and the winner will play at 7 against the winner of Cloquet/Pine City. Proctor also drew a 4 spot, where they will play Virginia at 4:30 in Nashwauk with the winner playing the winner of Hermantown and Duluth Marshall. Lastly, 3rd seeded Moose Lake-Willow River will find themselves in a battle with 6th seeded Two Harbors when they play in Hermantown at 11:30 AM.

The dates throughout the tournaments for Section 7A and Section 7AA are May 24th, 27th, and 29th along with June 3rd and 5th.
