Nelson Has Strong Game For The Thunder

CLOQUET – It has been a tough season for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College women’s volleyball team. The Thunder are still looking for their first win of the season after a 3-1 loss to Vermilion Community College on Wednesday night at Jack Briggs Gymnasium in Cloquet.

After losing the first two games of the match by scores of 25-17 and 25-16, the Thunder rallied to win game three 26-24 before falling in the final game 25-12.

Holly Nelson continued her strong play at the net for the Thunder by pounding down 10 kills and picking up three blocks. Amber Gregg also recorded seven kills, while the Thunder picked up strong back row play by Rachel Sanda who had 21-digs. LaRena Evazich of Wrenshall finished with 18-set assists in the match and Heidi Jurek, also of Wrenshall, notched three ace serves in a losing effort.
