Agates Out Slug Rails

TWO HARBORS, Minn. — Two Harbors defeated Proctor, 12-10, in a non-conference baseball game at Two Harbors High School Field on Fri., May 2. The Agates jumped ahead early, scoring five runs in the first inning and six runs in the second.

Kyle Omtvedt and Mark Pearson led the Agates’ offensive attack. Omtvedt was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs, and Pearson was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and three RBIs. Lucas Kempfer scored three runs for Two Harbors.

 

Pearson was the winning pitcher. He allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits, four walks, and one hit batsman, with one strikeout.

Jake Malec was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple for Proctor. The Rails were also led by Cody Lewis (2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs), Jimmy Merrill (2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI), and Keenan McGovern (2-for-4 with two RBIs).

 

Malec picked up the loss. He allowed four earned runs on four hits and four walks in one inning, with one strikeout.

Proctor now moves to 2-2 on the season and the Rails will host Ashland on Monday in a Lake Superior Conference match-up. The Agates improve to 2-0 and they will host South Ridge on Tuesday afternoon.
