George Bailey – NSO

The Esko Eskomos picked up two wins in girls softball action on Thursday afternoon as the Eskomos picked up their third straight victory as the Eskomos played both games at Cherry High Schools field in Zim.

The Eskomos opened the day with a 10-2 win over the South Ridge Panthers by a score of 10-2, the Eskomos broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth taking a 3-1 lead over South Ridge, and a five run fifth provide more than enough as the went on to the eight run victory.

The second game against Eveleth-Gilbert saw the Golden Beard jump out to a 6-0 lead after four innings, when Esko got things going by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth inning and a six run sixth inning gave the Eskomos all they need as they picked up the victory.

Head Coach Brad Emanuel told Northland Sports Online “we started slow in that second game and came out a little flat, but once we started hitting everything happened at once.” Emanuel also mentioned “we have two strong pitchers so we are very fortunate that both are top notch players.”

With the two wins on Thursday the Eskomos move to 4-1 on the season and they will be in action again on Saturday when they will face Duluth East at Ordeen, Saturday morning.
