Esko-Carlton picked up a big win in the local girls soccer circles when they defeated Grand Rapids 2-0 on Monday afternoon. The Eskomos outshot the Thunderhawks 12-2 in dominating the match.

Kaitlin Lilly gave the Eskomos the lead in the 63rd minute when she picked up a loose ball just outside the 18-yard box and pounded a shot into the upper right corner past Thunderhawk goalie Morgan Bruns.

About eight minutes after Lilly’s goal the Eskomos found the back of the net again when Alyssa Rodlund took a pass from Brooke Schramm and pushed a one-touch shot towards the net. Bruns mishandled the ball and it just managed to trickle over the goal line giving E-C a 2-0 lead.

Bruns made 10-saves on 12-shots for the Thunderhawks while E-C goalie, Rachel Ofstie saw just 2-shots from Grand Rapids and recorded the shutout.
