Arrowhead United Soccer Finishes Second In State

The Arrowhead United boys U-17 soccer team recently took second place at the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association State Tournament held in Coon Rapids. Arrowhead United is comprised of players from Hermantown, Proctor and Duluth Denfeld.

In preliminary round action Arrowhead United defeated Northern Stars Soccer Club of Ramsey 2-0 and then tied Rochester 2-2. Rochester had earlier tied the Northern Stars so that meant that after pool play Arrowhead United moved out of their pool with the most points.

Championship game action saw Arrowhead United fall 2-1 in sudden death overtime to Woodbury. The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and the score remained tied at 1-1 after overtime and the first shootout sending it into sudden death shootout where Woodbury managed to sneak out the win.

Arrowhead United advance to the state tournament by beating NSS Soccer in a shootout in the MYSA North District Championship game 5-4 and then they won the regionals by defeating Minneapolis United 2-1.
