Cloquet Falls To North Woods

The Cloquet Lumberjacks hosted the North Woods Grizzlies on Friday night but couldn’t come out with the win, as they would fall to the Grizzlies 81-54.

The Grizzlies got out to the 46-29 lead at the half and never looked back as they would go on to outscore the Lumberjacks 35-25 in the second half, while on their way to a dominating 81-54 victory.

Leading the Grizzlies to victory was Darby Youngstrom with 26 points and Destinie Villebrun with 22 points. Alicia Rutchasky added 14 points in the win, Zoe Bystrom pitched in 8 points, Taylor Midthun scored 4, Emily Fultz notched 3, and Tessa Mankus and Megan Brodeen topped it off with 2.

In the loss for the Lumberjacks, Jaiden Cofield and Kassidy Steen each scored a team high 13 points. Kaylee McMillen added 10 in the loss, Hazel Erickson notched 6, Tara Longseth scored 4, Jessica Stone and Anna Fossen each tallied 4, and Sammantha Zeadow topped it off with 2.

North Woods improves to 16-2 with the win. Cloquet falls to 12-6 on the season and will play the Tartan Titans (10-10) on February 11th.
