Hawks topThunderhawks in Overtime

The Hermantown Hawks picked up a huge sectional win Wednesday night at Hermantown High School by a score of 74-72.

The Hawks who trailed in the first half battled back to tie it and force the game into overtime, and the Hawks outscored Grand Rapids 10-8 in overtime for the victory.

Hermantown trailed by 10 points 32-22 at the break but outscored the Thunderhawks 42-32 in the second half which forced the overtime period and propelled the Hawks to their 12^th win of the season.

Kole Zuidmulder led the Hawks with 22 points, Chase Hren added 15, Thomas Madison pitched in with 14, Cade Zaharias added 10, while Justin Brenden chipped in with 8 points.

Alex Illikainen led all scorers with 26 for Grand Rapids 26 points, Trevor Elhard added 14, Evan Reitter ended with 12 and Cole Herring finished with 11 as the Thunderhawks leading scorers on the night.

The Hawks picked up their fifth sectional won on the season and they have only lost one sectional game this year. Hermantown improves to 12-7 overall and will take on Duluth Denfeld on Friday at Denfeld High School.

Grand Rapids falls to 12-7 on the season and 3-3 in sectional play overall. The Thunderhawks will host Hibbing next Thursday night at Grand Rapids High School.
