Lady Jacks Fall To Wayzata 3-0

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton continued their tough early-season schedule on Saturday in a 3-0 loss to the Wayzata Trojans in Plymouth. The Jacks were outshot 29-7 in a game that saw Alyssa Acheson make 26 saves for CEC.

After a scoreless first period the Trojans took the lead for good when Kaitlyn Klein scored from Mara Dougherty at 13:53. Klein followed with her second goal of the game at 16:41 with Alison Kirk assist and Wayzata held a 2-0 lead after two periods.

Klein, who had the hat trick in the game, recorded her third goal at 12:35 of the third period with Kaycie Palesch and Dougherty assisting to make it 3-0.

CEC took two penalties in the game and did not allow a power play goal, while Wayzata took just one penalty in the game and did not allow CEC to score on their advantage.

The Jacks finished with seven shots on Trojan goalie McKenna Lorenz who picked up the shutout win.
