Rachel Macaulay scored a pair of goals and Katie Beckman finished with 20 saves as the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey team pulled out an impressive 4-1 win over the Hibbing/Chisholm Blue Jackets in Cloquet on Tuesday night.

Macaulay broke a scoreless tie at the 5:27 mark of the first period with Ashley Krisak picking up the assist and CEC held a 1-0 lead heading into the second period.

Just :50 seconds into the second period and with CEC on the power play, Emily Gustafson found Macaulay for a goal and the Jacks were up 2-0. CEC then used another specialty teams goal to go ahead 3-0 when Gustafson and Carley Esse teamed up for an assist on a goal by Makayla Langenbrunner at 3:22 on a shorthanded tally.

Raini Heyblom cut the lead for the Blue Jackets at the eight minute mark of the second period to 3-1, but that would be the only goal H/C would score all night against Beckman and her defense.

The lone third period goal was scored by Krisak at 11:36 with Gustafson adding the assist to make it 4-1 at 11:36.

CEC tossed 32 shots on H/C goalie Amanda Klennert who finished with 28 saves, while Beckman recorded 20 saves on 21 shots for CEC.

The Lady Jacks are now 3-3-1 on the season and will travel to Hermantown on Thursday to take on the Proctor-Hermantown Mirage.
