Mirage Skate Away With 3-1 Win Over Rebels

Proctor/Hermantown skated away with a 3-1 girls hockey victory over Moose Lake-Willow River on Friday night at Riverside Arena in Moose Lake.

The Mirage overcame a sluggish scoring start, and managed a pair of goals in the second period, to pull away to the win over the Rebels.

Sophie McGovern gave PH the lead at 3:23 of the second period with Reilly Fawcett adding the assist. PH went up 2-0 at 15:09 of the second when Jillayne Gilbert pumped in a goal from Justina Lindberg and at the end of two periods it was the Mirage up 2-0.

The Rebels bounced back on a power play goal by Jessica Bird at 9:07 with Hannah Dougherty assisting, but the Mirage answered with a Jenna Wassenaar goal at 16:16 to salt the game away.

Kaitlyn Greene made 31 saves on 34 shots for the Rebels, while Mirage goalie Courtney Simmons finished with 23 saves on 24 shots.


The win advances the Mirage record to 3-2 on the season. They will be off until Thursday when they host the CEC Lumberjacks. Moose Lake Area falls to 2-2 and will host Chisago Lakes on Tuesday.
