Agates second in Second in Section Swimming

The Two Harbors/ Silver Bay girls swimming team had a strong showing in the girls section 7A swim meet finals Saturday at Lincoln Park School in Duluth.

The Agates finished second to Grand Rapids who won the team event with a total of 488.5 which was well ahead of the Agates who finished with 315. Hibbing finished in third place with 285, while Duluth Denfeld was the only other local school as they finished in eighth.

Allie Mayfield qualified in two events individually for the Agates as she was second in the 200 freestyle and she won the 500 freestyle in a time of 5;32.98 less then a second ahead of her team mate Marina Schreiner who came in second with a time of 5:33.12. Leann Fynboh of Two Harbors also qualified in the 50 free as she placed second overall.

Duluth East was fourth in the section 7AA meet yesterday in Coon Rapids, as they finished behind section champion Blaine, Anoka, and third place finisher Andover.

Alissa Marlow of the Greyhounds placed second in the 50 freestyle and Megan Zwak also placed second in the 100 breaststroke and both girls will participate next week in the state tournament.
