Halverson Runs Past Hibbing

Duluth Denfeld’s Ben Halverson scored three rushing touchdowns Tuesday night to lead the Hunters to a 25-0 victory over the Hibbing Bluejckets in a section 7AAAA quarterfinal match-up in Hibbing. Halverson rushed for 290 yards, and had one other touchdown run called back on a Hunter penalty.

Halverson scored the games first touchdown on a 31 yard touchdown run to put the Hunters up 6-0, and Cale Huie added a 2 yard touchdown run as the Hunters took a 12-0 first quarter lead.

The second quarter was scoreless for both teams and the Hunters would add to their lead in the third quarter as Halverson scored his second touchdown of the game this time on a 2 yard touchdown run. Halverson ended the nights scoring on a 23 yard scamper which made the final score of 25-0.

The Hunters improve to 2-7 on the season and they will face the top seeded Hermantown Hawks Saturday night in Hermantown in a section 7AAAA semi final match-up.

The Hibbing Bluejackets see their season come to an end Tuesday night as they finish with a 2-7 overall record this fall.
