Esko Beats Virginia to improve to 3-0

Esko volleyball improved to 3-0 last night with a victory of the Virginia Bluedevils. The Eskimos won 3-1, winning match one 31-29, losing match two 22-25, and taking the final two matches 25-22 and 25-17. Virginia falls to 2-8 on the year with the loss.

Leading the balanced attack for the Eskimos was senior Christaia Housler with 11 kills and 3 ace serves. Also adding to the victory was junior Molly Trapp who had 10 kills, senior setter Courtney Johnston who had 33 set assists and 8 digs, and topping it off was sophomore Mary Pelletier who had a fantastic day of serving with 4 ace serves.

Senior Justine Prout lead the Bluedevils in the loss with 11 kills. Adding to the even scoring was 8th grader, Lexi Ahrens, who pitched in 8 kills and 10 digs, junior Emily Pluskwik with 7 kills, and junior Mackala Palo with a nice performance of 26 set assists.

The Eskimos (3-0) will be back in action when they welcome the McGregor Mercuries (4-3) in a Polar League match-up on Friday, September 12th. The Virginia Bluedevils will have a long week off, when they play the Cloquet Lumberjacks (3-1) at home on Tuesday, Septhember 17th
