Cloquet Baseball Gets 4-0 Win Over Greenway

Mettner Field, Cloquet – Cloquet’s baseball team had an impressive season debut Thursday night against Greenway. Thomas Rogers allowed just three singles and a hit batter to reach base while striking out eight in a complete game win. Just one Greenway batter reached second base during the game.

Offensively, Dennis Conklin led off the game with a single and scored on Thomas Jezierski’s double off the centerfield fence to give the Jacks a 1-0 lead after one inning.

Cloquet made it 2-0 after five on a successful double steal with runners on first and third. In the sixth, Corbin Morse’s two run single gave the Jacks their final margin of 4-0.

Kyle Becker finished with two hits, with Conklin, Peter LaCourse, Jezierski, Rogers, Connor Stowell, and Morse adding a hit each.

Cloquet’s next game is Friday, April 17, 2009, against Ashland at Mettner Field.
