Last weekend, Augusta National Golf Course hosted the first of the golf majors. Those of you that watched were treated to some of the best golf we have seen in a long time. For those of you that know me very well I am a golf nut a golf fanatic you may say, the week of the Masters I normally log about 50-60 hours online, reading or watching on television everything I can about this treasured tournament.

Watching on Sunday, not only because it was Easter Sunday, brought me back to my youth when I watched Jack, Arnie or Gary fighting for the green jacket. As a youngster I would only watch golf on this one weekend, as would my Dad and Grandfather. We were never a golfing family growing up, however as I got older I realized how much I cherished that time together now that I am older and my kids watch golf with me.

The record tying 30, shot by Mickelson on the front nine was amazing, truly one of the best and most memorable front nines in masters history. Kenny Perry, holding on to the lead until the final two holes. Tiger Woods great run on the back nine only to come up short. Shingo Katayama’s outstanding shots that made everyone say ah. Chad Campbell falling back then working his way into a three hole playoff, and Angel Cabrera who now with only his second win, both Majors on the PGA tour. This brought back the excitement that had been missing in golf for such a long time.

Even though my favorite golfer (Phil Mickelson) did not win the Masters, just sitting and watching with my family and friends, reminded me of a time long ago as a youngster with his dad and to the present as it will not be long before I spend my free time on the course with my kids, family and friends. It truly was a tournament for the ages.
