Rengo and Dragicevich Play In Tri-State All-Star Game

Basketball season was still ongoing for two local girls as Kelli Rengo of Esko and Natasha Dragicevich played in the inaugural Tri-State All Star Basketball Series. The games were played Saturday, April 11, at Winona State University’s McCown Gym in Winona, Minnesota.

The event featured contests and games for elite high school boys and girls basketball players from Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. There wall be Slam Dunk contests, along with shooting competitions for both boys and girls.

“The events are focused on the outstanding careers of many of our region’s top basketball athletes,” Dan Ninham told NSO. Ninham is better known as the head boy’s basketball coach for Cass Lake- Bena. “It was a showcase event, and one of the first in our region to have competition between the three states.” College coaches in an eight-state radius of the event were invited to attend.

Rengo a Senior Guard from Esko was a four-year starter for the Eskomos. Rengo finished her career with 671 points; she also accumulated 364 assists and 327 steals. This season she led the Northland in assists with over six per game and in free throw percentage as she shot 79% from the line. She was also named to the NSO All-Area team as well as Polar League All-Conference.

Dragicevich lead the ML-WR Rebels in scoring this season. Averaging 11 points per game, she was the floor leader for first year head coach Neil Dickinson. Dragicevich, a junior guard will be back next season with the Rebels, she will play AAU Basketball this summer as well.
