The 5th annual 2012 River Run held over the weekend once again drew many individuals, families, and friends that came together to help raise money for the Churchill P.I.E Partners in Education at Churchill and the proceeds help purchase health related exercise equipment as well as technology equipment for the school.


The Cloquet River Run is a fundraising activity to get our children, families and community involved in healthy lifestyles and at the same time raises funds for school programs and events. Participating in this type of activity with family and friends provides a sense of achievement and positive role models for our youth.


The Cloquet River Run a two day event that starts on Friday night with a pasta feed held at the school and also a health and fitness expo. Saturday features a one mile race which began at 9 am and the 5k race which started at 9:30 am. A kid’s race followed at 10:45 and the awards ceremony was held at 11 am.


Ted Heikkala of Duluth was the winner of the men’s race as he finished in a time of 16:33. Kyle Larson of Duluth was 2nd with a time of 16:54, and Nathan Wisehart of Duluth was 3rd.


Molly Pennings of Culver was the top female finisher with a time of 21:24, Monika Waidacher of Duluth was second with a time of 22:36, and it was Yvette Miajala of Wrenshall finishing 3rd with a time of 23:24.
