Wow! That may best describe the wild day for local girls soccer teams yesterday. Hermantown, which leads a very competitive section, took a 4-2 victory over Duluth Denfeld. The Hawks are now 9-1-1 on the season. The Cloquet Lumberjacks shutout Hibbing/Chisholm 2-0 and are now 4-3-2 with all three losses to Twin Cities area teams and one of the ties to Hermantown. Esko-Carlton nabbed a 3-1 win over Two Harbors and they are now 5-4 on the season.

Alyssa Siljendahl and Haley Wargin scored first half goals for Hermantown as they took a 2-1 lead over Denfeld into the break. The second half saw Siljendahl and Hailey Hoff score in taking a 4-2 win.

Cloquet got goals from Chelsea Baublitz and Maija Doran to nab a 2-0 win over Hibbing/Chisholm.

Esko-Carlton got two second half goals from Marisa Shady with an Ellie Emanuel tally sandwiched in the middle to net the 3-1 win over Two Harbors. Dallas Cossalter assisted on the first Shady goal and Hillary Anderson assisted on Emanuel’s score.

The next big game in sectional play will be the Lumberjacks and Hermantown in a rematch of their tightly played affair from a week and a half ago. The teams will play on Saturday at 11am in Cloquet.
