Hermantown Boys and Girls Take LSC Golf Honors

The Hermantown Hawks boys and girls golf teams were named conference Champions Tuesday after the last Lake Superior Conference meet at Lester Park in Duluth. The Lake Superior Conference uses four meets to determine the conference champion; the top five individuals are named all conference as well.


Olivia Tusa edged out her Hawks teammate Callie Wilson by four strokes 168 to 172 to capture top honors for the LSC. Amanda Larson of Duluth Denfeld, Natalie Halverson of Hermantown and Sarah Juntunen of Cloquet-Esko were all named all conference.


The boys all conference team members were Derek Farrell of Duluth Marshall, who was the top boys golfer over the four meets and is named all conference along with Chris Rochon of Superior, Shane Bowen of Duluth Denfeld, Owen Stauber and Andrew Krasaway both of Hermantown.


The Hermantown boys finished as conference champions with a team total of 634, Duluth Denfeld was second with a 657, and Superior was third with a 658. The Hermantown girls finished with a team total of 738, Cloquet-Esko was second with 775, and it was the Proctor Rails finishing third with a team total of 1175.


Shane Bowen of Denfeld was the medalist at Tuesday meet at Lester Park as he shot a 37, Derek Farrell of Marshall was second with a 38, Marc Peterson from Cloquet-Esko was third with a 39 along with Nate Holcombe from Superior and it was Taylor Sundbom of Hermantown who was fifth with a 40.


The girls medalist Tuesday was Olivia Tusa as she shot a 43 to take the top spot, Cori Pelletier was second with a 44, Callie Wilson shot a 46 to finish third, Amanda Larson shot a 47 to finish fourth overall and it was Sarah Juntunen and Arica Sheff both of Cloquet-Esko tying for fifth with a 50 on the afternoon in Duluth.
