April 13

The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College women’s softball team stumbled for the first time in conference play over the weekend with a pair of losses to Itasca Community College. The Thunder fell by 8-0 and 7-4 scores.

“Katie McBride pitched very well for them and we struggled with our pitching,” commented Thunder coach Kerry Rodd. “You can’t walk 15 batters and 13 innings and expect to have any chance of winning.”

The losses are the first of the season in conference play for the Thunder, who has been ranked as high as #4 in the NJCAA National Fastpitch Poll.

“The games gave us a lot of things to think about and work on,” explained Rodd. “We found out we are not as good as some people made us out to be and we do have chinks in our armor, but everything is fixable.”

The Thunder will play at home on Monday, April 13th, Tuesday, April 14th and Wednesday, April 15th, of this week. Game times are 3:00 and 4:30 at Braun Park in Cloquet.
