Floodwood Remains Perfect With Shut-Out Of Barnum

The Floodwood Polar Bears remained unbeaten on the season as the Polar Bear shut out the Bombers 4-0 at Floodwood High School on Monday afternoon. The Bombers, who were playing in their first game of the season, managed only three hits in the loss to Floodwood.


Ross Schminski singled in Trevor Bernsdorf in the bottom of the first for the game winning run after Bernsdorf had tripled to start the game. Bernsdorf also added a single later in the game for the Polar Bears as he went 2-4 from the plate.


The Polar Bears had only six hits on the day as Justin Hall, Kyle Tamminen and Riley Bernsdorf added the other hits for the Polar Bears. Hall also added a run batted in for Floodwood. The Bombers three hits came from Jacob Naslund, Nathan Duesler, and Bobby Minkkinen.


Trevor Bernsdorf was the winning pitcher, going seven innings and notching14 strikeouts in the Polar Bears shutout victory. Jacob Naslund was the losing pitcher for Barnum, allowing only four hits in five innings pitched. Naslund struck out four and walked three in the loss.


Floodwood improves to 4-0 on the season and moves to 3-0 in the Polar League Conference. The Polar Bears will be in action again on Tuesday when they will travel to McGregor to take on another Polar League opponent, the McGregor-Cromwell Mercuries.


The Bombers start their season 0-1 and they will be in action again on Tuesday when they head to Chub Lake Park in Carlton to take on the Carlton Bulldogs. The Bombers will open their home season on Thursday when they host McGregor-Cromwell.
