Lindquist and Deschampe Named Polar League MVP’S

Ashley Deschampe of Cook County and Jackson Lindquist of Esko were named MVP’s of the Polar League as the Polar announced their all-conference selections of both boys and girls teams for the 2011-2012 basketball season.

Deschampe, who averaged almost 23 points per game and connected on 78% of her free throws, has currently helped to lead her team into the 7A Semi-Finals where they will face Mountain Iron-Buhl on Wednesday night at UMD.

Members selected to the Polar League first team were, Barnum’s Katie Myhre and Claire Rodgers as well as Esko’s Savanna Trapp and Marisa Shady. Abby Hawkinson from McGregor rounded out the first team.

Selected to the second team all conference were, Molli Durovec from Floodwood, MayKayleigh Cahoon from Cromwell, Claudia Turner from Barnum, Lindsey Dahl-Holm of Carlton, and Maria Burcar of Wrenshall.

Ten players selected as honorable mention were: Caitlin Rodgers from Barnum, Esko added two more players in Brooke Schramm and Steph Bandelin, MLWR also added two players, Adri Jusczak and Taylor Miller. Alicia Nopla form Silver Bay, along with Shawna Behrendt from Floodwood, Allie Cahoon of Cromwell, Bekah Laky from Cook County, and Lacey Myrdal of Two Harbors.

Jackson Lindquist, the long range gunner from Esko was named the Polar League MVP for the 2011-2012 season. Lindquist, who is averaging over 21 points per game is also an area leader from 3-point land as he has connected on 87 three pointers on the season.

Players selected to the Polar League First Team All-Conference were; Jacob Naslund from Barnum, Taylor Mattison of ML-WR, David Bergstrom and Dylan Quaife from Cook County, and Luke Thun of Silver Bay.

Second team members included two more long ranger bombers, Marc Peterson from Esko and his teammate Casey Staniger. Erik Adams from Carlton, Ross Schminski from Floodwood, and Kyle Blood of Silver Bay round out the second team.

Those selected as honorable mention members Danny Warpula and Bobby Minkkinen from Barnum, Jake Ramberg of Cromwell, Jake Disterhaupt and Caleb Koecher from ML-WR, Pat Gustafson from Wrenshall, Dan Gelhar of McGregor, Kory Deadrick from Esko, and it was Cook County’s Collin Everson and Kale Boomer rounding things out.
