The Carlton Bulldogs ended their regular season Friday night in a Polar League Conference battle with long time rival Wrenshall, and for the second time this year it was the Bulldogs prevailing as they win their fourth consecutive game by picking up the 65-52 win.

The Bulldogs opened their regular season with a 50-38 victory at Carlton and for the second time this season it was a double digit win over Wrenshall. Carlton, now with four straight wins over Floodwood, East Central, and Two Harbors will have a week off before the playoffs begin in section 7A.

The Bulldogs were led by Erik Adams, who finished with 21 points on the night, including 3 three-pointers. Lane Empson and Dekota Frear each added 11, Zach Veno hit for 10 with two 3-pointers. Kyle Gunderson chipped in with 8, and Michael Goranson had 2, as did Spencer Walton.

The Wrens were led by Pat Gustafson, who finished with 12 points. Pete Granholm had 11, Jack Dolter and Derek Duncan both scored 7 points, Mitch Frank added 6, Mott O’Connor finished with 5, and it was Jarred Kittel closing the Wrenshall scoring with 4 points in the loss.

The Bulldogs regular season ends with an overall record of 8-14, 5-7 in sectional play; they also finished 6-9 in the Polar League. It appears the Bulldogs will host an opening round playoff match-up on March 6th when the section tournaments begin.

The Wrenshall Wrens fall to 1-20 on the season and they will be home again on Tuesday night when they host Ogilvie in a non-conference contest which will finish up their regular season. Wrenshall will be on the road when sectional play begins March 6th.
