St. Olaf Drops Saints

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (csssaints.com) — On Saturday, St. Scholastica took a loss on the road to St. Olaf with a final score of 41-14.

First Half
The Oles (4-3, 3-2 MIAC) scored touchdowns on their first five possessions to open up a 35-0 lead on the Saints. CSS did have a pair of drives that ended inside St. Olaf’s 20-yard-line during that span that resulted on zero points.

Despite that, CSS was able to prevent St. Olaf from having a shutout in the first half when Jamari Thompson (Little Rock, Ark./Waller HS) intercepted a pass for a 26-yard pick six. Kyle Oswald (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) successfully made the extra point, and the Saints went into the half 35-7.

Second Half
The Saints came back from halftime and held St. Olaf to only one touchdown for the entirety of the second half of the game.

CSS was able to score another touchdown in the fourth quarter with a pass from Byron Bishop (Sublimity, Ore./Regis HS) to Mitchell Adrian (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) for an eight yard score. Kyle Oswald (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) came in and again successfully made the extra point. This brought the final score of 41-14.

Top Performances for CSS
During the game there were two interceptions for the Saints. Those were made by Jamari Thompson (Little Rock, Ark./Waller HS) for the pick six and Antonio Bugni (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS). Bugni also recorded 11 tackles. Jake Kukowski (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) led the team with 12 tackles.

Bishop threw for 206 yards and Brandon Love (Denton, Texas/Hebron HS) made his CSS debut rushing for a team-high 53 yards. Adrian had 14 receptions for 105 yards and a score.

Top Performances for the Opponents
St. Olaf’s Isaac Courtier had an 18 yard run touchdown and also had a 43 yard pass from Theo Doran.

Up Next
The Saints (0-5, 0-5 MIAC) will travel to Collegeville next Saturday to face St. John’s University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
