Lumberjacks Open Season with Victory

The Cloquet Lumberjacks opened the 2020 high school football season after a unsure fall dealing with covid then a change to spring then back to fall, but either way it didnt matter as the Lumberjacks defeat North Branch 24-12 Friday night in North Branch.

Reese Sheldon had two first half touchdown runs as Cloquet led 16-12 at the break, and the lone score in the second half came when Alec Turnbull connected with his brother Will Turnbull on a 63 yard touchdown pass, as the Lumberjacks start the season 1-0.

Sheldon had seven carries for 65 yards rushing and Turnbull was 5-7 passing for 93 yards and one touchdown in the win.

Cloquet will be home Friday night when the host Hibbing at 7:00pm.
