Senior Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold) scored two goals to become UW-Superior’s all-time career goal-scoring leader Saturday as the Yellowjackets shut out Bethany Lutheran, 6-0.

Watson needed two goals for the record, which was owned by 2018 graduate and current assistant coach Jon Bucklew, who scored 37 goals from 2014-17. Bucklew tallied 27 in his final two seasons.

With the UWS up, 1-0, on a Felix Blick (Linkoping, Sweden/Katedralskolan) header off of a Miguel Ocampo (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) corner kick in the 17th minute, Watson tied the record in the 26th. He made it 2-0 on a Pontus Tavemark (Taeby, Sweden/Taeby Enskilden Gymnasium) feed, finishing the play into the right side of the net.

Watson broke the record 11 minutes later, burying a penalty kick past Bethany Lutheran goalkeeper Moritz Bruns. The goal was the third penalty kick of the season.

Sophomore Abel Vaudo (Sete, France/Armstrong) notched his second goal of the year in the 39, on a pass from Scott Wilson (Ladybank, Scotland/Bell Baxter) for a 4-0 advantage before halftime.

The ‘Jackets’ fifth goal was granced off of a BLC defender in front for an own goal at 56:19.

Blake Doyea (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) tallied an unassisted goal in the 69th minute for the final margin.

UWS outshot BLC, 19-8, and 11-2 on target. The ‘Jackets had six corner kicks to four for the Vikings (9-4-0, 2-2-0 UMAC).
