Brainerd Upsets Duluth East

The Duluth East Greyhounds, who are ranked 4th in the state, fell to Brainerd on Friday night by a score of 3-2.

Duluth East got out to an early lead when Logan Anderson and Jonathan Jones set up Ricky Lyle at the 7:11 mark to put the Greyhounds up 1-0. Brainerd answered later in the period on a power play when Mason Kruse found the back of the net to knot it up at 1-1.

In the second period, Brainerd took the 2-1 advantage with Brady Anderson scoring at the 5:25 mark. Brainerd increased their lead in the third period with Riley Andres scored near the 11 minute mark to go up 3-1. Duluth East tried to chip away with a Frederick Paine goal at the 15 minute mark, but it wouldn’t be enough as they fall to Brainerd 3-2.

Konrad Kausch made 23 stops in goal for the Greyhounds, while Brainerds Jacob Mitchell stopped 27 shots in the win.

With the loss, Duluth East is now 10-4-2 on the season. They will look to bounce back on January 19th when they travel to play Moorhead. Brainerd improves to 10-6 with the win.
