Lighting Skate Past CEC in Overtime

Claire Vekich’s second goal of the game 4:46 into overtime beat the CEC Lumberjacks Tuesday night in Grand Rapids by a score of 3-2.

Vekich who had put the Lighting ahead 2-1 early in the third period saw the Lumberjacks bounce back and tie the contest at 2-2 when Jaxie Pogoreic score a power play goal at 4:43 of the third period. Assisting on the Pogoreic goal were Dana Jones and Emmie Ellena.

Kiana Bender scored the games first goal early in the first period as she beat net-minder Emily Trast at 15:47 of the first period. The Lighting tied the game just 48 seconds later.

CEC was 1-5 on the power-play Tuesday night.
