The Hermantown Hawks squeezed past the Duluth East Greyhounds on Friday night, winning 21-14 to remain unbeaten on the season.

The Hawks got out to an early 14-0 lead on the back of David Cornelius, who found the end zone from 56 yards out and five yards out. Duluth East responded before the half when Caden Edwards connected with Jaxon Edwards from three yards out, making it 14-7.

The Hawks increased the lead to 21-7 out of the half on a 26 yard run from Cornelius. Jaxon Edwards and Caden Edwards connected again for the Greyhounds in the fourth quarter, this time on a 49 yard touchdown pass, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Hawks held onto the narrow 21-14 victory.

The Hawks (5-0) will look to remain perfect on the season when they battle with Hibbing (3-2) on October 5th. The Greyhounds fall to 2-3 on the season and will look to bounce back against Grand Rapids (1-4).
