Bulldogs Return To State

The Carlton Bulldogs clinched their second consecutive trip to the Class A state tournament on Thursday afternoon, shutting out the South Ridge Panthers, 6-0 in the Section 7A finals.

The Bulldogs went a perfect 4-0 in the playoffs, starting their run with a 7-5 win over Mountain-Iron Buhl. They followed that up with a 11-2 victory over the Silver Bay Mariners and a 12-7 win over South Ridge.

In the championship game, the Bulldogs kept the streak going, topping South Ridge again, this time by the score of 6-0.

Brynne Mickle got the win for the Bulldogs, pitching a complete game, allowing just four hits while striking out two batters.

Offensively for the Bulldogs, Taylor Nelson went 2×3 with two runs scored. Abby Mickle helped the cause with an RBI triple, while Alaina Bennett and Brynne Mickle both drove in a run.

Melania Madill received the loss, pitching six innings, allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out seven.

The Bulldogs, who are now 15-3, will play in the Class A state tournament on June 7th against an opponent to be determined.
