Bulldogs Hold Off Wrens

The Carlton Bulldogs fended off the Wrenshall Wrens on Tuesday night, moving to 3-1 on the season with a 14-12 victory.

Kaden Crane notched the victory for the Bulldogs, pitching four innings, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits. Crane also struck out seven batters. Peyton Schmidt earned the one out save for the Bulldogs, striking out the final hitter of the game.

Leading the offense for the Bulldogs was Jackson Mickle, who went 4-4, including a 380 foot home run. Crane also helped his cause at the plate, going 3-4 with three runs batted in.

Brennan Kelley got the loss for the Wrens, pitching two innings, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out just one.

Offensively for the Wrens, Randy Wimmer went 2-3 with a double and a triple. Kelley ended the game with three runs batted in on a 2-5 performance at the plate.

The Bulldogs (3-1) will be back in action on May 3rd when they host the Silver Bay Mariners (1-4) at Chub Lake. The Wrens, who drop to 2-1 with the loss, will face the McGregor Mercuries (1-2) on May 3rd.
