Floodwood, Cromwell Fall In Semifinals

The Floodwood Polar Bears and Cromwell Cardinals both saw their seasons come to an end on Tuesday night in the Section 7A semifinals.

The Polar Bears faced off against the Mountain Iron Buhl Rangers, who have won the Section 7A title for seven consecutive seasons. The Polar Bears ended up falling to the Rangers, 68-21, to end their season.

Mikayla Koivisto led the way for the Polar Bears with 10 points, while Mary Burke and Macy Savela propelled the Rangers with 19 and 16 points respectively.

In the other semifinal game, the Cromwell Cardinals faced the Bigfork Huskies, falling in the closely contested game, 38-34.

Shaily and Teana Hakamaki scored 16 and 15 points respectively in the loss for the Cardinals, while Emma Rauzi led the Huskies in scoring with a team high 16 points.

With the losses, the Polar Bears end their season with a 21-7 record, while the Cardinals finished 19-8. Mountain Iron-Buhl and Bigfork will play for the Section 7A championship on March 8th at Romano gym on the UMD campus.
