Mattson Nets 62 Points, Scores 1000th Point In Win

Wrenshall’s Nick Mattson had himself a career night on Monday, netting 62 points on 17 made threes, propelling the Wrens to the 116-83 win over Duluth Marshall.

Mattson, who now ranks second for most three pointers made in a game and ninth for most points scored in a game, also reached the 1000 point plateau in the win.

Wrenshall held a 53-43 lead at halftime, but exploded in the second half, outscoring the Hilltoppers 63-40 to secure their 21st win of the season.

Aside from 62 points from Mattson, Eli Krisak added 17 points and Randy Wimmer chipped in 14 points. Also scoring in the win was Tyler Kelley with 9, Dan Merrill with 6, Jared Kelley adding 4, and Chase Duncan and Grant Hall each adding 2.

Samuel Lohn scored 32 points in the loss for Duluth Marshall, while Ben Landherr scored 29 points. Rounding out the scoring for Duluth Marshall was Matthew Erickson and Derrick Winn each with 6 points, Tyler Johnson with 5 points, Felipe Rondon Munoz with 3 points, and Stephen Kneepken topping it off with 2 points.

The Wrens, who are now 21-2 on the season, will be back in action on February 27th when they travel to play the Ogilvie Lions (2-23). The Hilltoppers drop to 5-19 on the season and will look to bounce back on February 27th when they play the Silver Bay Mariners (15-9).
