Carlton’s Hey Scores 1000th Point In Win

Matthew Hey entered Tuesday’s game against the McGregor Mercuries 13 points shy of 1000 career points. Hey reached the 1000 point plateau, scoring 24 points in the Carlton Bulldogs 74-73 victory.

The Bulldogs held a slight 36-35 advantage at the half and would match the Mercuries 38-38 in the second half to secure their third consecutive victory.

In addition to Hey’s 24 points, Ben Soderstrom scored 23 points and Jackson Mickle added 14 points for the Bulldogs in the win. Rounding out the scoring was Chase Parker with 8 points, Matthew Santkuyl with 3 points, and Jacob Santkuyl with 2 points.

The Mercuries were led by Carson Passer, who scored 24 in the loss. Joe Baker and Marshall Passer each scored in double digits, adding 18 points and 12 points respectively. Finishing the scoring out for the Mercs was Joey Glunz scoring 9 points, Joe Oliver adding 6 points, and Logan Jackson rounding it out with 4 points.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 8-7 on the season. They will be back in action on January 26th when they host a Coaches vs Cancer event against the South Ridge Panthers (6-8). The Mercuries losing streak extends to 6 games, bringing their record to 4-9. McGregor will look to snap their losing streak on January 25th when they travel to play Greenway (12-1).
