Hermantown Falls In OT

The Hermantown Hawks fell in overtime to Eden Prairie on Friday night, 5-4.

The Hawks gained the early 1-0 lead in the second period when Brandon Schmidt found the back of the net at the 4 minute mark. Eden Prairie came back with an onslaught of goals, however, tallying three unanswered goals to make it 3-1. Late in the second period, Hermantown’s Brady Baker scored an unassisted goal at the 16 minute to make it 3-2.

In the third period, Sam Wilhite made it 4-2 for Eden Prairie, but Jacob Herter and Blake Biondi responded for the Hawks, making it 4-4 to send it into overtime.

In the overtime period, Eagles Garrett Smith scored an unassisted goal on a power play at the 6 minute mark to send Eden Prairie home winners.

With the loss, the Hawks drop to 1-2 on the season. They’ll play again on December 9th against Benilde-St. Margaret’s (2-3). Eden Prairie moved to 1-1 with the win.
