The Cloquet Lumberjacks advanced to the state semi finals for the first time since 1976 with a win over Becker Friday night by a score of 36-21.

Cloquet jumped out to a 8 point lead after one quarter of action thanks to a 27-yard run by quarterback Tim Pokornowski.

Spencer Weher would add to that lead with a 14-yard scamper into the endozone, giving the Jacks a 14 point lead. Becker would get on the board before halftime though, as Lucas Dertinger scored on a 6-yard pass from quarterback Josh Fobbe.

Becker rallied in the third quarter, scoring two touchdown, one on the ground, and one in the air, to take a slim lead in the third quarter and heading into the final quarter of play, outscoring the Lumberjacks 14-0.

Cloquet would compose themselves, and go on to solidify their victory in the fourth quarter, as Pokornowski and Wehr each ran in a score in the snowy conditions.

The Lumberjacks will face off with South St. Paul at 4:30 p.m. Friday evening in U.S Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings.
