Cloquet Routs Hermantown, Remains Undefeated

Cade Pierson – NSO

Scoring 14 points a piece in each of the first three quarters of action, the Cloquet Lumberjacks had no issues dispatching rival Hermantown 42-6.

Cloquet got a quick jump-start thanks to a huge 96 yard game-opening kickoff return by Sophomore Markus Pokornowski.

There was no looking back from there, as Senior quarterback, and older brother to Markus, Tim Porkornowski, started hot, going 4-4 for 143 yards in the air. He would end the game with 280 yards and three touchdowns.

Mitchell Gerlach paced the Lumberjacks in receiving with 126 yards on just four catches.

Joshua Bushey also had a nice night catching the ball, snagging two scores in the third quarter alone.

David Cornelius would score the lone touchdown for the Hawks on a 44 yard scamper to the endzone. Cornelius ended the night with 126 yards rushing.

Cloquet ends the regular season with an impressive record of 8-0, as they will look to take that season-long momentum into the section 7AAAA playoffs.

Hermantown will go into the playoffs with a 2-6 record. They do not have the positive momentum however, as they are sporting a current five-game losing streak.
