Through the past two seasons, the Barnum Bombers have tallied just one victory. On Thursday night’s season opener, they matched that total with a 12-6 win over the Aitkin Gobblers.

In the low scoring affair, the Bombers took a 6-0 lead into the half after Tyler Nynas connected with Kyle Kielty on a 50 yard touchdown pass.

Coming out of the half, the Bombers would score again, this time on a 10 yard pass from Nynas to Drake Weets, pushing their lead to 12-0. Aitkin’s Luke Pelarski would cut into the lead with a 25 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Bombers held onto the victory.

With the win, the Bombers start the season 1-0. They will look to stay on the winning track on September 8th when they square off against Rush City. Aitkin falls to 0-1 on the season.
