The defending Section 7A Cherry Tigers (19-3) will look to make their 8th consecutive trip to the State Tournament on Thursday, June 1st.

The Tigers will take on the Carlton Bulldogs (21-4) in the finals, a team who they have defeated twice this season by scores of 10-2 and 7-3. The Tigers advanced to the Section finals after defeating the Nashwauk-Keewatin Spartans 9-1.

The Bulldogs had a longer route to reach the Section championship game, having to win three consecutive games to get there.

Carlton kicked their day off at noon defeating the South Ridge Panthers, 4-1. They followed that victory up with a 10-4 victory over the Silver Bay Mariners. They ended their night with a 10 inning marathon against Nashwauk-Keewatin, winning 6-3 after scoring 4 runs in the top of the 10th inning to advance to the Section finals.

The Tigers and Bulldogs will play on June 1st, with the first pitch occurring at 4pm in Cloquet. If the Bulldogs win the first game, the two will square off again at 6pm to determine the Section Finals champion.
