Carlton Ends Regular Season With Win

The Carlton Bulldogs ended their season with an 11-10 victory over the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels on Wednesday night.

Raeann Barney recorded the win for the Bulldogs, pitching a complete game while allowing 10 runs on 9 hits while striking out 12 batters.

Abby Mickle led the way for the Bulldogs offense, going 3-5 with a double, triple, and 4 runs batted in. Also helping lead the Bulldogs to victory was Taylor Nelson and Aliana Bennett, who each went 2-4 and Brynne Mickle who went 2-3.

Nicole Newham propelled the Rebels in the loss, going 4-4 with 3 home runs and 3 runs batted in. Marissa Mikrot went 2-4 with a double, a home run, and 5 runs batted in, and Ally Bode went 2-4 with 2 runs batted in.

With the win, the Bulldogs ended their regular season with a 17-3 record and the top seed in the Section 7A playoffs. The Bulldogs will play their first playoff game on May 25th in Grand Rapids against the winner of the South Ridge Panthers and Cook County Vikings.

The Rebels fall to 11-7 with the loss. They will be back in action on May 18th when they host Mora.
