The Lady Bulldogs took care of playoff business Thursday night in Hermantown, as they took down Northland 59-42 to advance to the quarterfinal round on Saturday.

In the first half, Carlton maintained control right from the tip, largely thanks to the play of Senior Jenna Reed, who eclipsed the 1000 career point mark in the half of action.

Reed, the teams leading scorer at 17.8 points per game, once again led the Bulldogs, scoring a game-high 20 points.

The halftime score would be 27-19 in Carlton’s favor.

Northland couldn’t pull together a comeback in the second half however, as they were outscored by the Lady Dogs 32-23.

Alaina Bennett was the second-leading scorer for Carlton with 12 points, while Haily Klassen finished with 11 in the win.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs was Millie Groth with 8, Mackenzie Goranson 4, and Abby Mickle 4.

For Northland, Kristine Johnson led the way in the scoring department, compiling 16 points. Alexis Cash was the teams second-leading scorer with 12 points, knocking down three made triples.

Carlton (13-14), will meet with Floodwood (18-9), this Saturday at Hibbing Memorial Arena at 7:15 p.m.
