The Duluth Northern Stars high school girls hockey team exploded to a 3-0 lead after two periods enroute to a 4-2 victory at North Shore on Friday night.

Sydney Schuman, Maddie Smith, Rian Braun and Elizabeth Karakas scored for Duluth, which out-shot their opponents 34-26.

The Northern Stars improve to 3-15 and will face Mound – West-Tonka on Tuesday at the Heritage Center in West Duluth, while the Storm fall to 5-10-1 overall.
