McGregor Wins Overtime Thriller

The McGregor Mercs and Carlton Bulldogs combined for 21 three pointers Friday night in a game that went to overtime. The game would see the Mercs pull away in overtime, winning 73-66.

The Bulldogs led 40-32 at halftime, but the Mercs would recover in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 30-22 to send it to overtime tied at 62-62. The Mercs would outscore the Bulldogs 11-4 in overtime to secure the win.

Cole Gelhar led the way for McGregor, scoring a game high 27 points. Johnny Huspek and Carson Passer would each score in double figures, scoring 12 and 10 respectively. Also scoring for McGregor was Joey Glunz and Billy Staska, each with 9, and Zach Hawkinson with 6 points.

Tyler Ojibway had 23 points in the loss for the Bulldogs, while Waylon Lekander added 19 points. Also scoring was Eric Soderstrom with 8, Matthew Hey with 7, Sam Macor adding 3, and Jackson Mickle, Nate Nilsen, and Keijo Day topping it off with 2 each.

The Mercuries move to 5-1 with the win and will be back in action on December 20th when they host the Chisholm Blustreaks (2-2). The Bulldogs are now 4-1 with the loss and will look to bounce back on December 19th when they travel to play the Northland Eagles (2-3).
