This past Saturday, the South Ridge Panthers traveled to play the Silver Bay Mariners in the Section 5 9-man semi-finals, coming out victorious by a score of 22-18.

The Mariners would kick the game off with a 77 yard touchdown pass from Tanner Ketola to Jason Blood to go up 6-0 early. The Panthers quickly responded with a 14 yard run from Nick Carlson and a successful two point attempt to take a 8-6 lead.

The Mariners would be quick to respond with another score, this time on a 64 yard run from Ketola, to give the Mariners back a 12-8 lead. The Panthers answered the Mariners once again, this time on a 22 yard pass from Carlson to Adam Keskitalo to give the Panthers a 16-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Panthers would increase their lead to 22-12 after Carlson and Mark Lisic connected on a 21 yard pass. The Mariners would answer with another big play, this time on a 80 yard run from Giovanni Marolt to cut the Panthers lead to 22-18, but it wouldn’t be enough as that would be the final score.

The Panthers improve to 7-3 on the season and will have a tall order ahead of them in the Section 5 9-man finals as they face the Cromwell Cardinals (10-0) in Esko on November 4th. Kickoff will be at 7:30pm. The Mariners ended their season with a 6-3 record.
