Cardinals Shut Out Mercs

The 9th ranked Cromwell Cardinals recorded their 3rd consecutive shutout victory after toppling the McGregor Mercs 69-0 on Friday night.

The Cardinals scored 27 points in the 1st quarter and 23 points in the 2nd quarter to lead 50-0 at the half. Quarterback Zion Smith recorded 4 touchdown passes in the win, connecting with Sawyer Strelnieks twice in the first half.

Nic Johnson also had a fantastic half for the Cardinals, returning two punts to the end zone from 51 yards and 70 yards out.

The Cardinals, who are now 7-0 on the season, have outscored their opponents 365-50 this season and will look to record their 4th consecutive shutout on October 19th when they host the Onamia Panthers (0-7). The Mercs drop to 2-5 on the year and will look to bounce back on October 19th when they travel to play the MN Academy for the Deaf Panthers.
