Cade Pierson – NSO

The Cloquet Lumberjacks secured the 27-16 victory over the Hermantown Hawks Friday night, as Cloquet threw for 211 yards.

Holding a 14-8 halftime lead, the Lumberjacks held their own in the second half.

In the third, Hermantowns Elliot Peterson made the game tight again with a 60+ yard punt return, bringing the score to 16-14 Hermantown.

Cloquet’s Spencer Wehr ran in a 4-yard score to give the Jacks’ a 20-16 lead, and they never looked back.

The fourth quarter would see Cloquet add to that lead, as Aahsan Maigag reeled in a 52-yard score from quarterback Tim Pokornowski, who went 10-16 on the game.

Cloquet moves to 4-1, while Hermantown falls to 5-1, suffering their first loss of the season.

The Hawks will attempt to rebound Friday against rival Proctor at home, while the Lumberjacks will face off with Hibbing at home.
