Cade Pierson – NSO

Cloquet ended Hermantowns 16-game regular season win streak Friday night after securing the 27-16 victory.

Lumberjack quarterback Tim Pokornowski had a good day passing, netting 211 yards and two scores.

The first quarter was a slow one, with neither team scoring in the entirety.

The second quarter is when things picked up, as Jack Hausmann ran in a 6-yard score for the Hawks, and the 8-0 lead after the successful 2-point conversion.

The Jacks answered back in explosive fashion, as Joshua Bushey reeled in a 33-yard touchdown strike from Pokornowski (2-point conversion good)

Cloquet secured the lead with a quick 1-yard Spencer Wehr touchdown run.  (2-point pass good)

At halftime, Cloquet held a 14-8 lead.

Hermantowns Elliott Peterson gave the Hawks some life with a big 67-yard punt return for the score and the 16-14 lead.

The Jacks regained the lead off Wehr’s second touchdown run of the night, bringing it to 20-16.

Aahsan Maigag finished off the scoring for the night, sealing the Cloquet win on a 52-yard touchdown reception.  (Kick good)

The Lumberjacks (4-1) will face off with Proctor next Friday, while Hermantown (4-1) will try to rebound against Grand Rapids.
